Powderham Food Festival

Powderham Castle's deer park makes an unusually handsome setting for a food festival, and for one weekend each October it fills with the kind of stalls that make you regret only having one stomach. Producers from across Devon and the wider South West bring cheese, charcuterie, cider, craft beer, chocolate, and baked goods, alongside street food traders cooking to order.

A full programme of demonstrations and tastings runs across both days, so it rewards arriving with no fixed plan and letting the smell of woodfired ovens and coffee roasters decide your route around the grounds. Children are well catered for too, with activities that make it a genuinely easy family day rather than one adults enjoy more than kids do.

It's a longer trip from Cullompton — around nineteen miles, the furthest edge of a comfortable day trip — but the castle grounds and Exe estuary views on either side of the festival make the drive worthwhile.
